Thai Massage
AN ANCIENT
TECHNIQUE THAT FIXES 21ST CENTURY HEALTH PROBLEMS
Valerie went to Thailand to learn Thai
Massage from master teachers whose lineage can be traced
back to the origins of Thai massage more than 2,000
years ago.
Thai Massage is sometimes referred to as “assisted yoga”
because the bodyworker uses leverage, strength and
cautious physical manipulation to create yogic stretches
and lengthening in clients who assist the bodyworker by
engaging in rhythmic breathing and visualized tension
release.
Some ancient texts say that Thai Massage was originated
by a legendary Indian doctor, Shivago Komarpaj, who was
the personal physician of the Buddha and the King of
Magadha. Body manipulation has long been used in
powerful Thai healing practices that are based on belief
that the body is contains 72,000 “sen” (energy
meridians), of which ten are considered most important.
Thai Massage uses physical movement and
therapist-to-client applied pressure to produce
predictable, long-lasting internal effects.
As with most Thai Massage therapists, Valerie does Thai
Massage on a firm floor mat rather than on a massage
table. Clients can remain fully clothed, other than the
feet.
Thai Massage has a reputation for producing very intense
sensations that some you might have heard are “too
intense.” It’s true that some Thai practitioners apply
inappropriate levels of pressure that can be perceived
as painful.
Valerie Whiting has a more skillful Thai Massage
approach. She is able to generate supersonic levels of
firm pressure with her feet and hands, but she is also
able to immediately read client musculoskeletal tension
and adjust her pressure accordingly. She can be as
gentle or as tough as you want her to be.
The most important factor to remember is that Valerie’s
Thai Massage produces lasting realignment of the core
architecture of the body- releasing tension, blockages,
toxins, and neuropathy to bring movement, grace, ease,
relaxation, calm energy, mental clarity and relief from
pain. |
